The week before school and camp is the perfect time for a local family trip. Following are some fun family hotels for an easy, local stay which requires zero planning. Make memories that will last a lifetime and take it easy this week. You too deserve a break.
In the US there is really no such thing as all-inclusive, but the following hotels are pretty close with attractions on site and often non alcoholic drinks for free. If meals are included in the package, it always pays to reach out in advance to find out if they can provide any Kosher alternatives – or other perks instead.
Hershey Lodge

At this chocolate themed lodge, enjoy all the perks Hershey’s has to offer. There’s a free shuttle to the park and discounted admission to HersheyPark. You can also enjoy many activities for free including: their indoor water park, kids events like crafts and character appearances, Hershey Gardens, Hershey Story Museum, outdoor sports courts, and arcade. Included in your stay is also discounted tickets to Zoo America and 3 hour free Preview Plan which allows you to visit HersheyPark the evening before using your one-day admission ticket.
This destination is perfect for families with kids of all ages. Hershey Story Museum is ideal for children under 8, the amusement park for those older and the many other activities which everyone can enjoy. There are rooms allowing up to 6 people and suites for bigger families.
Keepin It Kosher is a kosher food stand in the park certified under Star K serving burgers, hot dogs, chicken strips, BBQ wings, soft pretzel, veggie & hummus platter and more. The Following Stands are under Star D Supervision: Rita’s, Pepsi Freeze Zone, and Dipp’n Dots.
P.S. Some reviews mention cleanliness as not being the best. If this is a deal breaker, do additional research before visiting.
Legoland

Even adults love this Lego themed resort. Choose from one of their themed rooms designed especially for kids and enjoy the theme park just steps away. Additional features available to guests include: a resort style hotel pool, an indoor castle play area, LEGO build areas, and nightly entertainment.
Legoland is designed primarily for families with children aged 2-12, but Lego fans of any age can enjoy it. There are rooms from anywhere between 5 guests to 9 guests.
Legoland is only 15 minutes from Kiryas Joel and 30 minutes from Monsey – so you can easily hop over for dinner or even Uber it in. For a quick grab-n-go meal – Exxon Mobile might be the best option yet – at just 13 minutes from the park.
Jiminy Peak

If theme parks aren’t exactly your thing, Jiminy Peak offers a different type of adventure. Their Summer Mountain Adventure Park features a scenic chairlift, bungee jumping, a mountain coaster, alpine slide, hikes, and more. The Arial Adventure Park has fun ropes courses and obstacle courses to get some of the kids energy out.
The ideal age to enjoy Jiminy Peak is 6 and up. Kids and teens of all ages and even adults can enjoy the beautiful scenery and fun activities. There are many room configurations, from single room suites up to three bedroom suites sleeping up to 8.
During the summer, Chabad of Berkshire sells Kosher Food in the Crane Lodge.
Mohonk Mountain House

If beautiful lake and mountain views get you excited, the Mohonk Mountain House might be the place for you. With many activities on premises, like hiking trails, rock scrambling, boating, archery and a golf course, everyone is bound to be entertained. Additional amenities include yoga and meditation classes, an indoor pool with underwater music, and night entertainment. There is also a kids club and a junior naturalist guide to entertain the little ones.
This resort is a more mature destination and is ideal as both a romantic destination or a family destination. They offer both single rooms and bigger family suites.
The hotel is all inclusive and provides packaged Kosher meals on request (reach out early enough). Otherwise the closest Kosher options are in the Catskills – anywhere between a 30 to 60 minute drive.
P.S. I was going to include Sesame Place, but read terrible reviews online. If you have recently personal experience, please share below.
