I run a business and it was a busy time at Work, but it was summer after all. I needed a short but fun trip with my husband and our 1-year-old. With just Sunday to Tuesday available, I wanted something within driving distance (no more than 4 hours from Jackson NJ) but different from the usual spots we visited as kids.

We stopped in Oneonta to enjoy a driving range before continuing to Cooperstown. Oneonta Sports Park

Day 2:

Since the plan was for this to be a relaxing trip, we didn’t plan a tight schedule. We figured we’d take it as it goes.

We started our day with Rail Explorers, a multi-seater pedal-assisted bike ride along an old railway track. There were longer options available, but we chose the 90-minute ride because we liked that time slot, and it felt like the perfect length. The baby rode along comfortably in a harness, making it a great experience for the whole family. Rail Explorers

Afterward, we visited the Baseball Hall of Fame. My husband had an amazing time exploring all the exhibits while I entertained the baby. My favorite part was the make your own personal baseball card photo booth 🙂 Surprisingly, we met a couple of Jews there, and we almost had a minyan! We probably spent about an hour and a half there. Dinner:

We brought a portable gas grill, which was inexpensive and so worth it—not having to deal with coal made cooking so much easier! You can find it here. We grilled dinner on our porch, enjoying the peaceful mountain surroundings.

 Day 3:

We toured the local gift shops next to the baseball hall of fame, which offered all sorts of signed items by players and other collectible baseball items.

We also stopped at the baseball wax museum. Wasn’t anything major.

We took a short break by Lake Otsego before heading back. It’s really stunning and relaxing. We already wanted to start heading back, but had I realized how stunning it was I would have allocated more time.

Final Thoughts:
Overall, my husband loved the trip, and it was refreshing to experience something new together as a family. It was the perfect blend of baseball and nature, and we made some wonderful memories along the way!
