Dubai and Abu Dhabi are cities/emirates of the United Arab Emirates, and are known for their luxury shopping and modern architecture.
I’ve added some post-trip notes to this itinerary with my experiences.
Hotel:
- Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah
- The hotel kept our food frozen in the general freezer with no issues
- This hotel is located on the famed “Palms” islands of Dubai
Method of Transport:
- Car Rental with Avis
- Roads are comfortable, wide, and safe
- We drove from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and encountered no problems
Food:
- We schlepped along plenty of dry packaged food as well as frozen POM Meals. The staff was very helpful in retrieving the meals. The room had a microwave, so we did not need to bother the staff to warm up our food.
- The kosher food scene in Dubai has exploded with the signing of the Abraham Accords. For a list of kosher establishments, see here. For Chabad, see here. (Note that many establishments are currently closed, in the aftermath of the 10/7/23 attacks).
Activities:
I recommend getting a GoCity Pass or Dubai Pass to save on attraction entry fees.
- Dubai
- Burj Khalifa- the tallest building in the world
- Dubai Mall
- Spice Souk
- Gold Souk
- Abu Dhabi
- Ferrari World
- the ride operators here were rather sneaky. Some rides are not visible from within the building and so you have no idea what you are getting into. The operators will all tell you that ‘this ride is not scary at all’ and then you will find yourself upside down with a 50-foot drop ahead of you…
- Sheikh Zayed Mosque
- this is the most beautiful 21st century building I have ever seen. Makes you yearn for the Beis Hamikdash…
- Ferrari World
